Name Change and Letter Quest v1.04

Every time we release a new version of any of our games, we’ll do our best to post about it and let you know what’s new! This release is pretty huge! First off, we’ve changed the name of the game from “Spell Quest: Grimm’s Journey” to “Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey” for corporate purposes. The next version to hit the App Store and Google Play will have the new name. We apologize for any confusion during the transition, and we’re going to do our best to change everything over as quickly as possible. With that out of the way, on to the good stuff! We hope everyone will enjoy this update, here’s a preview of what you’ll be seeing! PS: the update was submitted to the App Store on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 so should be available in 2-5 days, depending on Apple’s review time. Google Play version coming soon!! Bonus Shop (one-time purchase of $1.99 for a limited time!) We decided to include some purchasable content that many players were asking for. We realize that the gem doubler and gem packs were very optional…so optional that barely anyone bought them. So we decided to make a new “BONUS” shop and charge a few dollars for it. Here’s how it works: buying the bonus shop now entitles you to everything in it, which currently includes 4 new weapons for Grimm, each with a unique effect, and 3 new letter tile sets. It will also include all future content, forever. Future content will include more weapons, more letter tile sets, optional music tracks, and different game modes (including the upcoming endless mode that we’re really excited about!). Also, for our “early adopters” (those of you that already bought the gem doubler to support us), you’ll be getting all of this content completely free! Thank you for your support! NOTE: when the bonus shop is unlocked, one new weapon and one new tile set will be available immediately. The rest will remain locked until certain conditions are met, such as defeating a certain number of monsters, spelling a certain number of words, etc.   New Content (all free) 7 new stages, for a total of 40 stages and 120 stars 10 new quests 6 new achievements 5 new leaderboards in GameCenter 2 new books, unlocked after one of the new stages Twitter Integration Whenever a stage is finished, if you’re logged in to Twitter, you can push the twitter button in the top-right to tweet about your best word, including a custom picture that is unique based on the word you spelled, what weapon you have equipped, and which letter tiles you’re using. Here’s a sample: Donate Button After having literally a few hundred people ask for it, we added a “DONATE” button that is on the map and options screen. You can click it to donate $0.99 to us, and if you do so, you’ll get a super-cool shiny badge to remind you of how awesome you are. If you don’t want the button there, you can click “NEVER” on the popup and the button will be removed from the map. General Changes can now tap second monster in a stage to get details popup, so can see what’s coming next added several words to the dictionary, such as AFRO, AFROS, TROJAN, TROJANS, JAPANESE, CHINESE, GERMAN, ITALIAN, etc. can now tap stars on results screen to get a popup where you can see star details and play it, without going back to the map Potion costs reduced from 500 to 400 HUGE IMPROVEMENT to memory usage, reduced by over 50%, should...

Gif Mondays!

There’s been a lot of push for indies to show their games off via gifs lately, which I wholeheartedly support! Over at indiegames.com they recently had a post showing off a lot of cool indie games: http://indiegames.com/2014/01/indie_games_in_gifs.html. I figured that we could do that too, why not! So I’m dubbing this the first official “Gif Monday” at Bacon Bandit Games. Look forward to a new gif every Monday, possibly even from our top-secret next project sometime soon! If anyone knows of any cool indie game gif sites/posts, feel free to leave a comment. Without further ado, here’s my recent battle with “Spookington”, who’s description is pun-tastic: “He never wants to leave – the mansion is his old haunt, after all”. Insert laughter and/or groans...
